Providing Mental Health Therapy to the Greater Memphis area
Kirsten is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) in the state of Tennessee and is nationally board-certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She attended the University of Memphis, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in English, a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a Graduate Certificate in School Counseling.
Kirsten takes an individualized, integrative, holistic approach to counseling and believes that a trusting, authentic therapist-client relationship is the foundation of any meaningful therapy work. Kirsten is an ideal fit for clients who are ready to dig deep and want to be heard and validated while also being challenged and held accountable.
She has been trained in various modalities and interventions and works collaboratively with clients to determine the best course of treatment for each individual. No matter the specific intervention, she utilizes trauma-informed practices and works from a culturally competent, weight-inclusive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, anti-diet, sex-positive perspective with compassion and a sense of humor. Kirsten personally understands the vulnerability and courage it takes to go to counseling and face your struggles, and she considers it an honor to walk your therapy journey with you.
Kirsten’s biggest strength is her empathy, using her innate ability to connect to meet you where you are and help you move toward the healing you deserve. Kirsten has specialized experience in working with varying levels of disordered eating, and she is passionate about helping clients find freedom and recovery from diet culture. In commitment to this endeavor, she is actively working towards fulfilling the requirements to become a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and is under supervision to earn this distinction.
She wants to help all clients achieve unconditional self-acceptance, liberation from expectations, and comfort with setting boundaries. As a result, her primary focus areas are: eating disorders, body image struggles, anxiety, sexual assault/abuse survivorship, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, sexual shame, extreme self-criticism, attachment wounds, developmental trauma, highly sensitive persons (HSPs), perfectionism, overly controlling/controlled behavior, and chronic people-pleasing.
