Kirsten is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) in the state of Tennessee and is nationally board-certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She attended the University of Memphis, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in English and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Kirsten takes an individualized, integrative, holistic approach to counseling. She has been trained in numerous modalities and interventions, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically-Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Attachment Theory. Whatever interventions are chosen, she is always utilizing trauma-informed practices and working from a culturally competent, body positive, and sex positive perspective with compassion and a sense of humor. Kirsten personally understands the vulnerability and courage it takes to go to counseling and face your struggles, and she considers it an honor to walk your therapy journey with you.
Kirsten’s biggest strength is her empathy, and she has an innate ability to connect with clients of all ages with various presenting concerns. Whether you are working through depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, sexual assault survivorship, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive behaviors, attachment issues, addiction, abuse trauma, control issues, developmental trauma, problematic anger, family system issues, parenting struggles, personality disorders, ADHD, child/adolescent behavior concerns, relationship issues, or are just struggling to cope with the stress of the ups and downs of everyday life, Kirsten will meet you where you are and help you move toward the healing you deserve. She also works with clients who are being mentally and emotionally impacted by adjusting to chronic illness, relocation/moving, pregnancy/motherhood, veteran status, gender identity, or LGBTQIA+ community membership. Kirsten has specialized experience in working with varying levels of disordered eating, and she is passionate about helping clients find freedom and recovery from diet culture.
Kirsten holds an additional license as a school counselor for grades PreK-12 in the state of Tennessee, so she is particularly well-equipped to see children and adolescents who need their private counselor to consult with their school counselor and other members of their education team. She is a clinician member of The Gottman Relationship Checkup and can offer this research-based assessment to couples in order to identify the specific strengths and challenges the relationship and the individuals are facing. Kirsten wants to help all clients move toward body trust and body kindness in intuitive relationship with themselves, and, in commitment to this endeavor, she is actively working towards fulfilling the requirements for further certifications. Kirsten is available to clients ages 6 and older for individual, couples, family, and group counseling services.
