Martha is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Science in Education, and a Master of Science in Counseling.
Martha began working in the counseling field as a therapist, providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy to clients ages 4- 50+. In her work with children and adolescents, she was in direct collaboration with outside agencies such as the Department of Children’s Services and various foster care agencies. She has a passion for working with families to
assist them in identifying roadblocks to communication, and helping them resolve issues such as struggling with effective parenting and setting effective, healthy boundaries, all as a means to restore and preserve the family.
Martha has 25 years’ experience in the counseling field, and thus is very knowledgeable about evidence-based modalities and improving therapeutic interventions. She works with a broad population, including those with ADHD (adult and child), anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, grief, workplace issues, and other mental health issues. She has extensive experience working with the LGBTQ population, including assisting individuals throughout the transition process. Martha is steadfast in providing compassionate, non-judgmental support.
Martha is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and also uses a combination of other approaches towards trauma resolution. While she does use a more eclectic approach to therapy, she utilizes many components of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which has been found to help not only those with personality disorders, but also those with issues such as unresolved trauma, emotion dysregulation, and a history of self-harm thoughts and actions.
Martha’s approach to therapy is that it is a collaborative effort between therapist and client, and assists clients in finding and utilizing the resources within them to elicit change. Martha is available to clients ages 6 and older for individual, couples, family, and group counseling services.
Martha can be reached at (901) 498-9126 x26.
Martha is accepting clients for Telehealth and In Person, at our Midtown location. Daytime, evening and weekend hours are available.
